The St. Paul Hickory Grove church calendar is full of special services and celebrations, from our annual Potato Bake and congregational meeting in January to our Advent Festival in December that includes wrapping gifts for the Angel Tree Project.
Special events at St. Paul Hickory Grove include the annual Potato Bake celebration of our founding on Jan. 30, 1877; our Confirmation Dinner that precedes Confirmation Sunday/Palm Sunday each year; our Graduation Reception that celebrates our high school seniors; our Children’s Day Service and Lunch at the conclusion of the annual Vacation Bible School; our Senior Recognition Sunday and Reception in September; our Mission Festival in October; our Advent Festival in early December; and our youth-led Christmas Eve Service and Reception.
Anniversary Potato Bake
Nothing takes the chill off a January Nebraska Sunday like a baked potato with all the toppings and the fellowship of your fellow Lutherans.
Confirmation/Graduation Receptions
We celebrate the young people of our congregation when they are confirmed on Palm Sunday as eighth-grade students and the weekend before their high school graduations with cupcake receptions after worship.
Children’s Day Service
Our Vacation Bible School students share what they’ve learned with the congregation in this special youth-led summer service.
Mission Festival
St. Paul Hickory Grove welcomes a guest speaker who tells the congregation about a local or international mission project in which he or she is involved.
Senior Recognition Sunday
St. Paul Hickory Grove acknowledges and appreciates the older members of the congregation at this annual service in September.
